Everything you need to be prepared for Troop 232 meetings, campouts, and events.

For New Families

Welcome to Troop 232! Here is what to know when you are just getting started:

  • Attend a meeting first. Troop 232 meets most Mondays at 7:00 PM at Scout Cabin (by Chapman Park), 1139 Brown St, Waxahachie, TX 75165. No registration required to visit.
  • Meet the leaders. Introduce yourself to the Scoutmaster and Committee Chair at your first visit.
  • Register through Scouting America. Visit scouting.org to officially join.
  • Uniform. The BSA Class A uniform (tan shirt, merit badge sash, olive pants/shorts) is worn to meetings and formal events. Used uniforms are often available from the troop at no cost — ask a leader.

Forms & Documents

The following forms may be required for campouts and high-adventure trips:

  • BSA Talent Release Form — Required for photos/video to be used in official Scouting publications.

Scoutbook

Scoutbook is the official Scouting America platform for tracking rank advancement, merit badges, and troop communications.

  • Scouts and parents each need their own login.
  • Leaders use Scoutbook to post event announcements, record attendance, and approve advancement requirements.
  • Sign in at scoutbook.scouting.org .
  • If you need help setting up your account, ask a troop leader at the next Monday meeting.

Frequently Asked Questions

What age can my child join?

Scouts BSA is open to youth ages 11–17 (or who have completed 5th grade). Youth under 11 can participate in Cub Scouts and bridge over to Scouts BSA.

How much does it cost?

Annual BSA registration fees apply (approximately $80/year). Campout and event costs vary by trip — leaders will provide details in advance. The troop keeps costs as low as possible through shared equipment and fundraisers.

How often does the troop camp?

The troop typically camps once a month, with a major summer camp or high-adventure trip each summer. The calendar is planned in the fall for the following year.

What is Eagle Scout?

Eagle Scout is the highest rank in Scouts BSA, achieved by fewer than 4% of all Scouts. It requires earning 21 merit badges (including 13 required), demonstrating leadership, and completing a significant community service project. Eagle Scouts are recognized for life.

Can girls join Troop 232?

Since 2019, Scouts BSA has welcomed female Scouts. Linked troops (female-only) operate under the same chartered organization. Contact us to learn about current options in Waxahachie.
